BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!!

As I read back through my blog, I find myself missing those lazy days of summer and realizing that due to the busyness of life, I haven't updated since July! But then I realize that the reason my life is so busy is because of the many blessings I have been given!

So whether it has been winding up a summer of golf lessons.....

.....spending a Saturday with my 3 favorite guys learning about the history of our great state....

.....watching a Biscuits game with great friends....

(by the way, Mason has obviously hit a growth spurt that Conner hasn't!)

....or heading back to school.....

.....enjoying an afternoon in the backyard....

....or spending an afternoon at the lake with family.....

....God has reminded me that while He desires for us to be still and spend time with Him, He also gives us seasons in our life that are busy......busy with the blessings He has given us!

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him......Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."

"Blackwater Traditions"

This is a photo of the creek / river where we spent a few hours today. And, of course, there is a story behind it! When I was a little girl, every summer my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother would take me, my brothers and my sister and several other cousins down to a swimming hole on this creek / river. We had some wonderful times swimming, picnicking, rope-swinging and just plain exploring. I guess I have gotten sentimental in my old age - after all, I will be 40 in a few short weeks! I decided a few weeks ago, that I would love for my children to have some of those same memories. So today, despite the 70% chance of thundershowers, we loaded up and headed out to find the perfect spot. And although it was not the exact place we used to go (that place is so grown up it is no longer accessible), we got directions from a dear, sweet friend and were able to find a place to start our own "Blackwater Traditions!"

Thanks to Nana and Daddy Jim for going with us. As you can see, we had the cousins and the grandparents for memory making!

Notice we took our beach gear with us, but after a few minutes Brady declared, "Mom, this is better than the beach!"

We are already excited about our next trip!

Jacobs Family Reunion

For the first time in 12 years, the Jacobs family did NOT go to Lake Martin the 3rd weekend in July. Back during the winter and spring, when it was time for the usual planning of this annual event, we weren't sure what the situation with Grandmother would be in July. After she passed away in May, we decided that even though going to the lake would not be possible this year, we still want to set aside the 3rd weekend in July for a Jacobs' family get-together. So, this year we spent Saturday afternoon at my parents' house eating, fellowshipping and swimming in the rain! Although the weekend will never be quite the same without Grandmother, we hope to return to Lake Martin next summer!
